Fashionably Fierce at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon

The Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards Luncheon was held in Beverly Hills, California on February 21, 2013. Now in its sixth year, the annual luncheon celebrates  and honors the achievements of black women in the film and TV industry.  The honorees at the luncheon included Oprah Winfrey who received the Power Award for her career and charitable work; Quvenzhane Wallis who received the Breakthrough Performance Award and Gabrielle Union who received the Fierce and Fearless Award. I have been excitedly  following updates from the luncheon on social media as the purpose of this luncheon, celebrating achievement of black women, resonates with me. Just from the updates in my various feeds prior to, during and after the luncheon,  I could tell that the spirit of the event was one of support and togetherness. And wow at all the greatness present at the event! I think the following quote from Gabrielle Union's award acceptance speech sums up the essence (pun intended) of the event:

"Real fierce and fearless women celebrate and compliment other women and we recognize and embrace the notion that their shine in no way diminishes our light, and actually makes our light shine brighter."

Megan Goode - I love the aesthetic of this dress. It's "bohemianly" beautiful

Kelly Rowland and Naomi Campbell glowing - I see a resemblance!
