Fashion Icon: Diana Ross

For me, Diana Ross is the embodiment of fabulous - the intricately designed gowns, big hair, and commanding presence, all added to her allure as both a trendsetter and a fashion icon.  She dared to create her own unique style that not only gained her accolades but also longevity. To one of the most inspirational fashionistas of our time, Diana Ross!

  1. OMMMGGG! Love. Listen, I promise you that I watch Lady Sings the Blues and Mahogany (both of which I have on DVD) on a monthly basis. There are quite a few looks that I've tried my darndest to duplicate. Impeccable, timeless style. That white cut out dress above is being duplicated over and over this season and it's about 4 decades old. Thanks for making my day!

  2. @Lee, I keep on hearing about Mahogany, but I'm yet to see it! I need to, I can just imagine the inspiration in that movie. Diana Ross is in a league of her own!

  3. In 1975 when Mahagony came out no one was ready for a movie about the fashion industry. Again Ms.Ross, was ahead of her time which is how you can tell a true legend. Now every one is trying to be a designer and have a fashion line. As Nika said: Ms.Ross is in a league of her own!!

  6. The beauty of Ross is that she was the first superstar with a distinctly afro-centric point of view. From the hair to the wear, she glorified blackness. Say what you will about her choice of men, she always knew who she was and was not ashamed to wear it loud. Never before, never again will there be one who does it with such flair, originality and confidence. She remains the ultimate expression of afro chic.
